Camera work/Narritive

We plan on using my dads camera agin which we used for our last piece of work. It is a a HDV sony camera, I find it very easy to work with and it can capture a large variety of shots.
Our shots will range from the opening camera shot will be a medium shot, of the drummer entering the screen, sitting down and start playing the basic drum beat that gets the song moving. The shot of him walking to the drums will be a still shot so he will just enter the frame from dark to light. This will be shot in a medium long shot so you can only really see the drummer and the top of his kit.

The next shot will be of the guitarist who will enter to the left, already playing the guitar because their is not time for the drummer and guitarist in that time. Another issue is the long introduction to the song means that there will be a bit of time where their isn't a lots that can happen in that time as it is too short to start the main story but to long to focus on just the band so I may have to have a few establishing shots of whats going on around the story of things like the location or a shot after the accident that makes Jane Moore ill. perhaps with this shot we can have the light creating a silhouette.

The third shot will only be a short shot of the bassist entering the shots from the right hand side of the frame. The shot of the guitarist and the bassist will both be filmed in medium long shots. I have chosen this style for the opening because I want the band to be known for how they look in their band, so you can see the strong bond a band has.
The final shot will be of the singer. This shot will be filmed from the side of the room so you see the singer walking past the drummer and guitarist and bassist. As he nears the microphones at the front the camera will move round in a circle until the camera is in front of the singer. There will then be an extreme close up of the singers face as he starts singing, then it will start cutting to the main story.

Aside from the band shots the narrative of the story will be set in a hospital  and in random street areas throughout Bristol. The story is that Matt Craddock's girlfriend is involved in some sort out accident that he caused that has made her terminally ill, and all he is trying to do is make himself a place is her diary. The Diary of Jane will be written. You will see over the shoulder shots of him looking into her room at either the hospital or in her house where she will be home medicated. There will be be an argument between Matt and Jane, which will use plenty of reaction shots. There will also be a scene where she will be watching a slide show of pictures of her and her boyfriend, where there will be a picture that will turn into a little mini clip of Jane and Matt cuddling at a beach which will show a memory she is having of the two of them.An eye-line match will be used when both Jane will be looking at images in the room of things that remind her of Matt.Towards the end, Jane decides that she wants Matt back in her life, leaves her sick bed in search for him and stumbles along lonely roads trying to find him. Matt will find out that she is looking for him and go looking for her. They will meet on a long and empty road on opposite ends, where there will be an over the shoulder extreme long shot of each of the people, and as Matt starts moving towards Jane she stumbles and falls to the ground. There then is an action shot of Matt running towards her and he pulls her into his arms and starts to cry. Her diary falls out of her hands and he looks at the open page and just sees pictures of him and her together. The final chord in the song will just be a high shot looking down on the pair.

change of plan/new music video

I have now decided to work with olly who i have previously worked with on a new music video with his music video as i was not able to acquire enough footage on holiday. The new music video will be based on the song 'Diary of Jane' by Breaking Benjamin's. we have decided to do this as my main song as it breaks the normal conventions that people normally do with their A2 coursework of doing fairly well known songs that don't really offer much variety for the exam board. So I have decided to go for the unconventional rock music video.
In this video, I will be planning to start with a simple slow motion introduction to the band. It will be in a darkened room that will have lights behind the band, to cast shadows upon their faces. The band will come in all at once, however each member will have a 3 seconds slot to enter the frame. The first will be the guitarist, who will enter playing the guitar, then the drummer will sit down as the drum kicks in then the base player will enter the room and leave a single microphone in the middle of the set and when the music starts getting heavy, the lead singer will slowly enter the room with purpose and gets to the microphone as soon as the singer starts.
The actors I will have for my video are: Sam Hughes,Tim Brown, Alex Bennet, Matt CraddockThese people are already in a band called Fears I Never Faced. I chose this band because the will have a good band chemistry, so it will make the video more effected. The next part of the scene is where I will have the band acting out a story. The story will be one based on how one of the band members (Matt Craddock) girlfriend is terminally ill in hospital, however due to an argument prior to the time in hospital, his girlfriend won't allow him to be there. The girlfriend who in the video will be called 'Jane Moore' and she will keep her diary and the story will be about how Matt will be trying to make sure he is there in her diary as a permanent memory of hers.He will do many acts of love to her such as flowers, getting her favourite artist to visit her, etc.The scene will end when the girl dies and Matt is left her diary. And he finds his place in the diary of Jane. The last cord in the song will just be him dropping the diary in slow motion to the floor. The location for the band entrance, will be in the drama room as it is a dark room with great potential for good lighting, the rest will be filmed hopefully in an old house that could be mistaken for a hospital, or at a house where Jane Moore will be home medicated.
