change of plan/new music video

I have now decided to work with olly who i have previously worked with on a new music video with his music video as i was not able to acquire enough footage on holiday. The new music video will be based on the song 'Diary of Jane' by Breaking Benjamin's. we have decided to do this as my main song as it breaks the normal conventions that people normally do with their A2 coursework of doing fairly well known songs that don't really offer much variety for the exam board. So I have decided to go for the unconventional rock music video.
In this video, I will be planning to start with a simple slow motion introduction to the band. It will be in a darkened room that will have lights behind the band, to cast shadows upon their faces. The band will come in all at once, however each member will have a 3 seconds slot to enter the frame. The first will be the guitarist, who will enter playing the guitar, then the drummer will sit down as the drum kicks in then the base player will enter the room and leave a single microphone in the middle of the set and when the music starts getting heavy, the lead singer will slowly enter the room with purpose and gets to the microphone as soon as the singer starts.
The actors I will have for my video are: Sam Hughes,Tim Brown, Alex Bennet, Matt CraddockThese people are already in a band called Fears I Never Faced. I chose this band because the will have a good band chemistry, so it will make the video more effected. The next part of the scene is where I will have the band acting out a story. The story will be one based on how one of the band members (Matt Craddock) girlfriend is terminally ill in hospital, however due to an argument prior to the time in hospital, his girlfriend won't allow him to be there. The girlfriend who in the video will be called 'Jane Moore' and she will keep her diary and the story will be about how Matt will be trying to make sure he is there in her diary as a permanent memory of hers.He will do many acts of love to her such as flowers, getting her favourite artist to visit her, etc.The scene will end when the girl dies and Matt is left her diary. And he finds his place in the diary of Jane. The last cord in the song will just be him dropping the diary in slow motion to the floor. The location for the band entrance, will be in the drama room as it is a dark room with great potential for good lighting, the rest will be filmed hopefully in an old house that could be mistaken for a hospital, or at a house where Jane Moore will be home medicated.

digi pack

Green days 21st century break down digital pack

What I find eye catching about this image is the choice of colour as it has a sunburst texture consisting of yellow orange and red which draws your attention to the center of the album where you see an image of 2 people kissing.

The whole album cover in itself seems to have been spray painted onto a canvas of a brick wall giving it a gritty feel to it which would appeal to Greenday's audience as they are labeled as punk.

The name of the band is placed at the top of the album cover as this is where most eyes will glance first, it is formatted in white drip dry paint which again gives it a gritty street feel.

The center image of the young man and women may appeal to both genders as it symbolizes romance although it will still appeal more to the male gender due to the colour scheme and grittiness of it.

The back of the album resembles the same image on the front however it is zoomed out which shows the couple standing on top of a car with a town which is engulfed with a huge blaze which explains the colour scheme. There is a constant use of white and black which works well together

The image on the album portrays the meaning as an anti-war statment this image also apeals to the key demographic. Band Name and Album Name are positioned so that they are in your sticker to promote face and instantly the album and to noticable. conform with the trading regulationsto warn for parental advisory. The colours used are simple and effective as they standout and arevivid, this is eye-catchingand the colours used are those assosiated with their demographic.
production Track number The back of the digipak has the same colour company and and name scheme to attract their demographic and keep record lablepositioned on the with their anti war iconography. information and a lefthand side of promotional offer. the back cover. Spine of thecase had theArtist and theAlbum name. Barcode and producer and mixer information and a compulsory warning lable about expletives and lyrics.
Artist name and Title withthe production company infomation Main image on the cd underneath. cover is one of a arm and hand holding the pin off a hand grenade this again promotes their anti-war themeTrack and numberpositioned on thefar left as is on he back cover
Page from the The text on each cd insert. page are the lyrics to the song with the handwritten font the book looks like a song book that the band wrote The text printed on the cd insert is in a handwritten font and isdone to be more relatable for the demographic, and it feels like thearist/band is being more intimate with the reader and makes them feel special and closer to the band.
Back of the cd insery has the same colour scheme as the rst of the digipak Names and Roles of people involved with the production and distribution of the albu.mBand membersand their role in the band notable website addresses and descriptions.
From this digipak research I have gathered that their is an significant importance to addressing your key demographic, and using their likes and dislikes to your advantage. The inclusion of an insert canimprove the way a fan reacts to the cd and the band and that it can in fact bolster the fan-band relationship.  A colour scheme is important and can tie together a digipak. The placement of certain information is relevant to the importance of said information with most of the important and relevant information of the left of the digipak and the smaller and less relevant information on the bottom and right side of the digipak.

During filming

During filming in Lanzarote I acquired a range of shots including a live recoding session in which i recorded two friends doing their routine performance in a bar. I used two cameras to record the performance one side on shot in which i used a go-pro camera which gives a very wide panoramic shot, unfortunately this camera can only use one shot as it doesn't have zoom on it.

I used another camera which I placed on a tripod which allowed me to pan and focus on different aspects of the performance.

I also acquired a range of shots on the beach. the majority of these shots were filmed by the go-pro camera in which I attached it to my surf board which gave me a very panoramic point of view shot. I also got a quite a lot of under water shots which the go-pros special under water case where I also captured some shots of some underwater reefs and wild life.

My story board for Taylor music video

STORYBOARD

The story board for the music video I find is very important as it portrays the music into a visual story,
which init self 'paints a picture' about what the music is really trying to express: The emotions, The locations, The people.

Shot 1: Medium long shot shall be used to capture the name 'Taylor"engraved in the sand being washed away by the sea.

Shot 2: Location wide angled scenic shot shall be used for this scene, as the shot is focusing on a figure walking in the distance. I'm tempted to use cut shots for every completed chord pattern on the guitar to speed up the figure walking towards the camera, like a small time lapse.

Shot 3: Close up shot of the figure who appears to be a red headed lady. This character shall be played by my friend who i grew up with in Lanzarote. The closeup shots of her will be her walking past the camera smiling almost in a panned motion which will capture the background of the whole beach.

Shot 4: This will probably be one of my favourite shots in the music video as i intend on using a medium close up shot of my friend surfing. I'm planning to shoot this scene during sun set so the orange background will contrast with the dark surfing figure. I shall also be using slow motion shots such as the shots used in the actual jack johnson Taylor music video.

Shot 5: For this scene I intend to shoot a live recording of my friend singing and playing taylor. I shall be shooting this in my dads old bar in Lanzarote called La Cantina which he built 20 years ago. I shall be shooting this scene at night so I position the lighting so it lights up my friend Talulah giving her and almost glowing look in the dark. She is currently learning the song as we speak as I will be shooting this in 2 weeks as that is when our flights are.

Shot 6: For the outro and ending scene of the music video, I'm planning to use a time lapse to capture the sunrise. I aim to do this by using some advice given to me by a friend in the year above who did the same thing, the trick is to take a photo every 5 seconds but leave the camera in the same place to achieve the affect. Instead of doing this manually leaving more chance for human error, i will hopefully have a timer on the camera which will take multiple shots automatically.

My music video analysis 'Taylor music video'

All in all I intend on using alot of the aspects used in Taylor Jack Johnson video from Slow motion shots to location shots as I intend on shooting my music video on holiday in Lanzarote in the Carie Islands of spain where there are Beautiful beaches, one being the 3rd best beach in Spain, Famara. This beach is 6 miles long and has a huge mountain range surrounding the Horizon. I plan to be shooting this music video with an old friend who lives there, she is a well respected singer and will also hopefully get some live session shots of her sining this song to a fairly big crowd in a local bar that Called La Cantina which my dad owned and made. We were thinking in investing in a 'Go Pro Sports Camera' which is a water proof head cam which I intend on using to get some surfing footage which would go very nicely with my music video.

Taylor jack johnson music video analysis and music video song choice

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTXqR1nsEMo

Personally this is one of my favourite music videos of all times for many reasons, such as it having one of my favourite comedy actors and one of my favourite artists, Ben Stiller and Jack Johnson.
my favourite concept about this music video is its use of cinematic comical short clips where there are 2 in the music video, one during the beginning and when half way through. During the first scene, Ben Stiller runs over a chicken as jack johnson shows his sympathy and calm nature.
The music video its self is based on making the music video of taylor as it portrays Ben Stiller filming his first music video which adds a comical factor to it which inits self breaks away from the stereotypical indie rock genre which is usually a serious music video.
The music video is based on Ben Stiller trying to direct the music video by imitating what he wants Jack Johnson to do as Jack Johnson doesn't seem too keen on Ben Stiller's ideas.
Most of the camera shots which are used are medium to medium close up shots which show the facial features of the people.
During the surfing scene where Ben Stiller is being impersonated by Jack Johnson who was once a champion surfer. They do this by giving Jack Johnson a brown wig and wear the same navy blue wet suit. I personally would have never guessed this however i researched the making of this music video. This scene incorporates a mix of slow motion shots to fish eye shots (bulge shots).
The end scene incorporates both diagetic and nondiagetic sounds as you hear Ben Stiller talking over the outro solo on the guitar.

All in all I intend on using alot of the aspects used in this music video from Slow motion shots to location shots as I intend on shooting my music video on holiday in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands of spain where there are Beautiful beaches, one being the 3rd best beach in Spain, Famara. Breach music video analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0EiujcV3Tg

I chose to analyse this music video simply because it has a catchy kick drum beat which corresponds to the set change as there is a set change every kick beat. there are 2 sets, one having a pink background and having dancers hair being located to the opposite place it usually would be, the other has a blonde and brown furry back ground with hair in the normal places where they should be on the dancers bodies.
The camera shots chosen varies from a medium shot to close up shots.
during one part of the song (the build up) cut shots are used to exaggerate the beat.
What inspires me about this video is the quality of the set design and the artistic styling especially the hair stylist.

I personally find the cut shots very amusing and they seem to be very simple but effective. I intend on using some aspects of this music video especially the cut shots, however instead of changing colours and hair I intend on using the same location of the beach whilst using quick cut shots from sunrise to sunset. This will be a very precise presider but i'm willing to do more than one take at it.
